Review of the 2001 Season 

Rushall won a closely fought First Division title for the second time in 3 years in what transpired to be their last season in the League, our thanks for their contribution. Lichfield were runners up separated by two points from Whittington and six points from the fourth placed Abbots Bromley. Friary after promotion last year and Longdon after two years in the First Division were both relegated.

Wall probable the team of the season easily won the Second Division. Hammerwich relegated last year return immediately to the first Division with Wall. Milford in their first season were only two points behind Hammerwich. Interestingly in the last round of matches unfortunately not played due to rain Wall were due to play Milford and Hammerwich fourth placed Hopwas. Walton unfortunately affected early in the season by Foot & Mouth restrictions and St Matthews were relegated. Walton has since withdrawn from the League.

Essington & Gt Wyrley who won all their matches comprehensively won Division 3. Acton Trussell also gained promotion; Rugeley 2 nd and Hammerwich 2 nd make the drop to Division 4. Tamworth 2 nd at the first time of asking won the Fourth Division closely followed by Whittington 2 nd they were both therefore promoted to Division 3.

We welcome in to the League this year Tamworth 1 st who replace Rushall in Division One, Draycott & Hanbury, North Warwickshire and Hawkins who return after a few years absence.

Rugeley 1 st and Wall contested the League Cup final at Lichfield. Unfortunately Wall could not maintain their League form and Rugeley won the Cup for 2001 fairly comfortably. Our thanks to Lichfield C. C. for hosting the final in probably their last season at Chesterfield Road.
